A recent single volume Kanwa dictionary based on Morohashi's Great Kanwa Dictionary
Discussion: On April 24, 1995 I bought the shin ban Kangorin in Kunitachi and I confess, since that day nearly eleven years ago, this is the dictionary I grab first when I want to get a quick info hit on a multisyllabic literary Chinese word that I think is probably well-known within the kanji culture tradition or when I want a terse analysis of a single character written so that even a beginner in written Japanese can soon learn to read it.
Along with the Japanese readings, the current Mandarin pronunciation of the main entry character is given in Pinyin.
Its small physical size makes the Kangorin handy for use on a desk filled with many references and papers as well as a keyboard, mouse and three monitors.
