Kenkyusha's Japanese English dictionary

Discussion: Every English-speaking student of Japanese knows about the 'Green Giant', the earlier edition of this famous dictionary, including some of its translations from Japanese into quaint or rarely-used English, reminiscent of similar offerings from Matthews' Chinese English dictionary to students of Chinese.
In the long-awaited 5th edition, the coverage is vast, and the many revisions carefully done and edited. Nevertheless, I usually reach first for the much smaller Shogakukan Progressive Japanese-English Dictionary which I find provides the answer to my questions most of the time. Granted my Japanese questions relate to reading the explanations of literary Chinese in Japanese dictionaries or the explanations or translations of Chinese classical texts in Japanese scholarly books. In other words, I generally stay within the mainstream literary tradition and no longer take (for me) side tracks into technical or colloquial Japanese. But I definately want Kenkyusha's big new J-E dictionary on my shelf. Unless I'm dealing with technical or colloquial material (almost never these days), the new edition of the 'Green Giant' is usually the second resource I consult to find English for Japanese.
